The 38th Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani starts this Thursday, November 2, but the HIFF programmers are still busy in adding films to the lineup. We are proud to announce that the Festival has added the upcoming prestige drama THE UPSIDE starring Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart and Nicole Kidman. An American remake of the the beloved French film INTOUCHABLES, this late addition will screen on the final weekend of HIFF38. THE UPSIDE is part of other late additions like THE FAVOURITE, ECHO IN THE CANYON and MOMENTUM GENERATION.
THE UPSIDE is the English-language remake of the French classic, THE INTOUCHABLES, that took the world by storm and went on to gross over $400 million worldwide – making it the second highest grossing non-English language film of all time. The American adaptation chronicles the unexpected friendship between Phillip Lacasse (BREAKING BAD’s Bryan Cranston), a Park Avenue billionaire left paralyzed after a hang-gliding accident, and convicted felon Dell (Kevin Hart), recently released from prison and in need of a job and a fresh start. From worlds apart, Phillip and Dell form an unlikely bond, bridging their differences and gaining invaluable wisdom in the process, giving each man a renewed sense of passion for all of life’s possibilities. Screens on November 18, 5:30pm
