Last night at the festival

Executive Director Chuck Boller together with Juan Gerard and Letvia Azra-Gerard of CUBA LIBRE! The lively question and answer session for the tyro director and his producer/wife spilled out into Critic's Corner here at the Dole Cannery!

 

 

Osamu Nishimura, Minoru Kawasaki, Shuntaro Kanai of Calamari Wrestler at the Dole Cannery! Director Kawasaki told the late night crowd he'd cast Jack Nicholson in the U.S. remake of his squid-with-no-name opus...and yes, he does eat calamari.

He loves to eat calamari.

David LeBlanc, film subject and brother of TARNATION helmer Jonathan Couette, taped the audience as they asked him questions! The footage goes directly to Jonathan, who is premiering his doc at the London Film Festival. David, an active duty serviceman here in Hawaii, will be back for a second screening on October 30!

HIFF will be selecting 20 winners this year from the eNewsletter list to attend the Hawaii International Film Festival Awards Ceremony and Reception where The First Hawaiian Bank will be presenting their Golden Maile Best Feature and Best Documentary Awards. LVHIFF will also be handing out The Blockbuster Audience Awards for Short, Documentary, and Feature Film, as well as The Film in Hawaii Award. And as an added incentive, winners will also get to the Meet the Filmmakers Reception.
