which are soon to test the limits of love, commitment, lust and sacrifice.
MEMORIES
OF MURDER (South Korea)
directed by Bong Joon-ho
From the creative team behind JSA comes a dark police drama based on a true
story - Between the years of 1986 and 1991, a small village in Korea’s
Gyeonggi Province was witness to the rape and murder of 10 women, all in the
same grotesque and brutal manner. Korea had never before experienced serial
murders of this kind, and an intense media frenzy and police investigation
followed.
THE RIDE
(Hawai`i)
directed by Nathan Kurosawa
David is a professional surfer from California, whose first priority is making
money. During a surf contest on Oahu he has an accident and nearly drowns.
David is pulled out of the water by a young Hawaiian surfer and is revived
on the beach. However, he finds himself at a remote, unfamiliar beach, in the
year 1911. His rescuer is a young Duke Kahanamoku.
THE COOLER
(USA)
directed by Wayne Kramer
Bernie (William H. Macy) is the unluckiest man in Las Vegas. Looking to knock
out their highest rollers, the Shangri-La Hotel and Casino downtown, decides
to use Bernie as a “cooler” to defuse their lucky streaks. The
scheme works until Bernie falls in love with a cocktail waitress, Natalie (Maria
Bello), who becomes his “lady luck”, much to the chagrin of the
casino’s crooked director (Alec Baldwin) who aims to break up the romance,
and Bernie’s newfound luck.
