K-FEST Films Announced!
The Hawaii International Film Festival is pleased to launch K-FEST, August 19 to August 21 at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts! K-FEST: a mini-festival of great films from the new wave of Korean cinema! Over the past few years, Korean films have been the most popular at HIFF, with virtual sell-outs and a fervor for more showings. Hence, K-FEST was born! With Korean entertainment becoming more popular everyday, thanks in part to the rise of TV dramas, film and pop music, K-FEST is a way to satiate the appetites of the growing population of K-philes. The seven films of the inaugural K-FEST, all released in early 2005, run from romantic comedy to family drama, war, horror, action and melodrama! The films, For K-philes and cinema lovers both, K-FEST is a great prelude to the 25th Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival (October 20 - 30), where more of the latest Korean films will be unveiled. Tickets are $9 general public, $8 military, seniors, students and just $7 for members of the HIFF Ohana.
