Projection Coordinator

TERM: October 1st-21st, 2012
APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 10th, 2012
The Projection Coordinator, under the supervision of the Festival Manager, will manage print and tape projection issues for the Hawaii International Film Festival, from October 11th – 21st, 2012.  The Projection Coordinator will develop relationships with venue managers and projectionists ; develop spec sheets of confirmed projection gauges for use by both Festival and projection staff; identify and secure all equipment necessary for successful presentation of all Festival films and videos; identify, recruit, and manage a staff of projectionists for select Festival screenings; and liaison with the Print Traffic Coordinator for timely shipping of prints and videos to their next destination.

Print Traffic Coordinator – Position Filled

TERM: August 15th – October 31st, 2012
APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 10th, 2012
The Print Traffic Coordinator, under the supervision of the Festival Manager and Programming Department, will manage print traffic for the Hawaii International Film Festival, from October 11th – 21st, 2012.  The Coordinator will develop relationships with external print traffic coordinators, secure on-time receipt of Festival films and videos, and arrange for timely shipping of prints and videos to their next destination.

Special Events Coordinator – Position Filled

TERM: August 15th – October 31st, 2012
APPLICATION DEADLINE: August 10th, 2012
The Special Events Coordinator, under the supervision of the Festival Manager will manage all events for the Hawaii International Film Festival, from October 11th – 21st, 2012.  The Coordinator will develop relationships with external vendors, sponsors and venues. Under general direction, coordinates and plans special events and activities to enhance communications programs; performs other related duties as assigned.

HIFF Internship Program

HIFF internships offer opportunities to gain a broad range of work experiences in film festivals. HIFF interns work closely with festival staff to plan, coordinate, and implement special events, educational programs, and film screenings. Those interested should have interest in the arts and/or film.

While internships are unpaid, festival staff will work with interns to gain school credit for work performed. Interns will also receive credit in the festival publication and can see films for free! HIFF requires a commitment of 15 to 40 hours per week and a set work schedule. Access to a car is preferred.

Intern Staff Positions

Design / Graphics Intern
Assist with in-house design and layout of printed materials (postcards, brochures, flyers, and program guide). Please provide a portfolio.

Development / Sponsorship Intern
Coordinate in-kind donation program. Assist in fulfilling sponsor benefits. Hosting sponsors.

Education Intern
Assist the Director of Program Development with the coordination and implementation of the Guest Filmmaker Program and HIFF Seminars. This includes coordinating classroom visits with filmmakers and teachers, as well as on-site monitoring of classroom visits during the Fall Festival. In addition the Education Intern will assist with the coordination, set-up and oversight of all HIFF seminars, as well as with data collection and analysis of program participation and satisfaction. Driver’s license and own vehicle preferred.

Operations Intern
Assist with Theater Operations, Program Guide, User Guides, Festival Staffing, Film Screenings.

Outreach / Communications Intern
Assist with marketing, public relations and promotions efforts for festival programs. Editing and writing skills required. Assist in making the final Media Report.

Programming Intern
Assist in the process of all film-related programming, including tracking submissions and prints, helping with the screening committees.

Special Events / Seminars Intern
Help execute production of festival programs and special events. Coordinate logistics with sites, vendors, and sponsors.

Travel / Hospitality Intern
Working with the coordinator staffing the delegate suite, making airport pick ups, airport drop offs, staffing the ticket desk here at Dole, and making sure delegate and taken care of when they get to Hawaii.
