Help us with our initiatives in bringing the best in local, national and international cinema, hosting film luminaries, and supporting local filmmakers and the next generation of storytellers by joining our HIFF Ohana.
Last month we asked our supported to share their stories on social media on why they love HIFF with our #IHeartHIFF campaign. The outpouring of shared stories was so great. But, don’t take our word for it. Here is what some folks are saying on why they love HIFF and why it is an important fixture in Hawaii’s arts and entertainment scene:
We are keeping tabs on the filmmaking evolution of @laulau_erin who has screened many of her short films at HIFF over the years. We look forward to her next one! #IHeartHIFF @Regrann from @laulau_erin – The first time I got to screen a film at HIFF was in 2012, when I was a junior in college. Several films and years later, I’m still growing and improving my craft. So #IHeartHIFF because they not only gave me the opportunity to bring these five amazing women to the big screen… But also because they helped nurture my self-confidence and deepen my faith that my dream of becoming a filmmaker was actually something tangible and not completely insane. Although every now and then I still think it’s sort of insane. lol Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your amazing festival again and again. Whether it was as a filmmaker or as an audience member, it was all pretty awesome. ❤️☺️ #filmlife #festival #hiff #hiff2017 #shortfilms #UHACM #koaohana #daypass #kapua #emptyspaces #littlegirlswarcry #directing #nostalgia – #regrann
