HIFF 2017: In our 2017 Festival edition, HIFF will also continue to present new international cinema with a focus on the Asia-Pacific Rim. Other exciting programs will include the annual European film section, and the Film For Thought program presented by the Hawaii Council for the Humanities combining thought provoking cinema with scholarly debate. In addition, the Festival will present workshops, seminars and panels exploring topics including Film Criticism, Producing, Acting, Directing, and Screenwriting.

About the Hawaii International Film Festival: Filled with insight and discovery, HIFF is dedicated to advancing understanding and cultural exchange among the peoples of Asia, the Pacific and North America by presenting films from around the world. Each year, more than 50,000 attendees throughout Hawaii viscerally experience the sounds and images of filmmaking from approximately 45 countries. This cultural exchange of ideas, presented through the powerful medium of film, raises the awareness of our similarities and differences alike.

HIFF audiences reflect the diverse multi-cultural face of Hawaii. For example, Chinese Americans see films from Japan; Japanese Americans see films from Korea. In so doing, HIFF helps to enrich, enlighten and broaden support for Asian and Pacific films by HIFF members, film festival fans and new audiences alike.
