Late Additions to HIFF 33 Film Program

We’ve been working hard to get our printed program guides ready (available now at the HIFF office, will be distributed ASAP), and in the meantime we added seven more films to the program for this year’s festival. The biggest addition is definitely THE WIND RISES (風立ちぬ, Kaze Tachinu), a new film from animation master Hayao Miyazaki, who recently announced his retirement. We’ve made this a second opening night film and tickets are $20 / $15 members. See more information about these new films below.



Opening Night Film

This decades-spanning epic from maestro Hayao Miyazaki is his most unique film to date. Inspired by the stories of Jiro Horikoshi, visionary designer of one the most beautiful airplanes in history – the famed Zero fighter – and the writer Tatsuo Hori, this tale of love and perseverance in a turbulent world is brought to life by the vivid animation of Studio Ghibli.
