July’s Courtyard Cinema at Ward Village Screening: TRANSCEND – THE JON MOZO STORY
This month’s COURTYARD CINEMA at WARD VILLAGE is the HIFF 2016 return engagement of the deeply moving and life-affirming TRANSCEND — THE JON MOZO STORY directed by Nikki Mozo and Devin Graham. Crew and Mozo family members will be in attendance!
Title: TRANSCEND — THE JON MOZO STORY w/ A-FRAME (total running time: 74 min)
At 33 years old, Jon Mozo was on top of the world as a renowned surf photographer in Hawaii. Follow the journey of a man who survived a near fatal shark attack and constant dangerous surf, yet chose to face his fears and live passionately. In an instant his love affair with the ocean resulted in his last breath, he died doing what he loved. A year later, his family found a hidden note that read, “The ocean has given me so much; one day it will take and I will give”.
TRANSCEND is the story of the fury and beauty of an untamed ocean, and one man determined to capture it. Jon Mozo’s intense focus and deep-rooted respect for the ocean transports his audience into an aquatic world where energy, passion and intense beauty will leave you breathless. Follow Jon’s story as he pushes through the limits of human endurance to bring the ocean’s depths to light. Transcend is not the tragic ending of a life lived on the edge, it’s the inspiring beginning of immense majesty immortalized. A story about his intense love for life, and his family’s resolve to continue his legacy.
The film will be preceded by the Sundance and HIFF award winning short film A-FRAME directed by Reno-Oner Champ starring renowned water photographer Danny Sepkowski.
