HIFF Hosts Official Oscar Night® America Party at Royal Hawaiian Hotel

HONOLULU, HI (January 7, 2010) – The excitement and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night is coming to The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, A Luxury Collection Resort, on Sunday, March 7th as the Hawaii International Film Festival hosts HIFF’s Oscar Night America party. Guests are invited to experience the thrill of the 82nd Academy Awards® and black tie affair during an advanced telecast, which will allow party guests to see the ceremony before anyone else in the Islands.

Oscar Night® America benefits HIFF, which is dedicated to the advancement of understanding and cultural exchange among the peoples of Asia, the Pacific and North America through the medium of film. HIFF’s celebration in Honolulu is one of 50 official Oscar viewing parties in cities across the country and is the only official Oscar Night® America party in Hawaii.

The benefit event will be held in the Monarch Ballroom at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Arrivals and cocktail party begin at 4:00 p.m. with the advanced telecast of the award ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase starting January 1st, 2010 for $300.00 per person for regular seating, or $400.00 per person for preferred seating in the Monarch Room. HIFF Ohana Members are being offered a discounted rate of $250.00 per person for regular seating  and $350 for preferred seating in the Monarch Room.

Tables for ten are available for purchase at various levels: Regular Table: $3,000/table (HIFF Ohana Members $2,500); Preferred Table $4,000/table (HIFF Ohana Members $3,500/table) - preferred seating; Prime Table: $5,000/table – priority seating inside Monarch Room plus Official Oscar Program and complimentary wine; VIP Table: $8,000/table – VIP seating, limousine service, complimentary wine and champagne, Official Oscar Program, one night at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, gifts at seats.

“Our Oscar Night® America party is a grand event every year and one of the highlights this year is sure to be our silent auction, where we will be auctioning off some fantastic items from great films and TV shows including LOST, which is set to air it’s final season in January, along with other great Hollywood memorabilia and collectible treasures,” says HIFF executive director Chuck Boller.

Guests will enjoy a taste of the Academy Awards as they make their way down the red carpet, relishing a delicious four-course meal while watching all the action unfold from Hollywood on large TV screens.

Prime and VIP table seats include official Oscar Night® America program book for each guest, 2 bottles of champagne, Official Oscar Night® America poster (one per table) and silent auction preferred check out. Copies of the 82nd Academy Award® commemorative poster will be available for purchase as well.

ABC Television and the Academy are cooperating for the 17th year with local charities throughout the United States to support official Oscar Night® viewing parties. Last year, Oscar Night® America parties raised over $3 million for charities across America, all of it remaining in local communities.

The 82nd Academy Awards® honoring the best in film will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and will be broadcast here in Hawaii on the ABC affiliate KITV.

Oscar Night

I have traveled to Hawaii and always enjoyed participating in Oscar Night.  However, I believe that $400 is an excessive fee this year.  Jean Capets
