FREE films/events at HIFF this year…

There are quite a few films and events that are FREE to attend this year at HIFF. We’ve listed them below in order of date, with links to find more information in our online program guide. For films/seminars at Dole, you will need to get a ticket (free for these events) at our Box Office due to limited seating space.


NETPAC presents: A Tribute to Madame Kawakita, a Seminar

A conversation with renowned film critic Donald Richie to discuss Madame Kawakita’s tremendous influence on Japanese Cinema. Four *FREE* films will be shown in conjunction with this seminar. Sponsored by NETPAC and ASIA PACIFIC FILMS.COM.

Sunset on the Beach

Free outdoor screenings of films at Queens Beach in Waikiki. Entertainment starts at 4:00 PM and the films begin around 7:00 PM, when it gets dark.


Awards Show

Shanghai University Shorts
