Percival Fawcett and his travails in the Amazon in THE LOST CITY OF Z, which closed the New York Film Festival; A woman who is considered one of America’s greatest writers, but was entirely ignored when she was alive in A QUIET PASSION; LAST MEN IN ALEPPO, a Danish production and also Sundance world premiere, meticulously and death defyingly chronicled the current Syrian crisis in gritty detail; and the magical realism love story THIS BEAUTIFUL FANTASTIC, which is reminiscent of such films like AMÉLIE.
