All entries are welcome, films are due September 18th.

The makers of “The People I’ve Slept With“, an independent sex comedy screening at HIFF this fall, are holding a video contest with a grand prize of $500, inclusion in the DVD release of the film, and a “Virgins Do It Better” T-Shirt. The top 5 most viewed entries will also be included on the DVD and will receive a t-shirt.
To enter, just record a 2 minute video that answers the question “Who’s the most memorable person you’ve slept with?” The contest is open to anyone 18 years or older, and submissions must be received by September 18, 2009.
Here’s a short video clip of our Executive Director Chuck Boller, Anne Misawa (Academy for Creative Media – University of Hawaii), Smart eXchange students (from UH) and members of the New Zealand Film Commission walking the red carpet on Opening Night of the 12th Annual Shanghai International Film Festival, in front of the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The opening film that night was “Wheat”, a Chinese historical drama directed by He Ping.
This past week in Halawa Valley, Todd Robertson of Hyperspective Studios and a crew of film professionals donated their time and equipment to shoot some scenes from the upcoming 2009 HIFF Trailer. Starring in this year’s trailer is LOST regular Daniel Dae Kim, as well as local actors Eric & Kimi Chun. HIFF Ohana members will be able to see the premiere of this trailer around September 30th (more details to come), and we’ll have it on our website to view shortly after that date.

We had a good crowd for last night’s screening of THIRST, and many of them stayed for the Q&A session afterward, which ended up being about 40 minutes long. After that, the fans were able to line up to get THIRST posters signed by director Park Chan-wook. Here’s a recording of the Q&A session. We also posted some photos from the event on our Flickr page, so take a look at them there.
As a benefit for HIFF Ohana members*, we are hosting a special sneak preview of Korean director PARK Chan-wook’s new vampire film THIRST at the Dole Cannery Theaters on Sunday, July 26th at 6:30pm. This film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. PARK will be in attendance and will have an extended Q&A session after the film. We will also be presenting him with this year’s Vision in Film Award.
