Showdown in Chinatown Sept / Oct 2009 flyer

Hawaii International Film Festival, Showdown in Chinatown and the Chinatown Film Project present a challenge to local filmmakers: to create an original short film 5-7 minutes in length that addresses the question, “How do you see Honolulu’s Chinatown?”. All entries are welcome, films are due September 18th.

“The Most Memorable Person I’ve Slept With” Video Contest

The makers of “The People I’ve Slept With“, an independent sex comedy screening at HIFF this fall, are holding a video contest with a grand prize of $500, inclusion in the DVD release of the film, and a “Virgins Do It Better” T-Shirt. The top 5 most viewed entries will also be included on the DVD and will receive a t-shirt.

To enter, just record a 2 minute video that answers the question “Who’s the most memorable person you’ve slept with?” The contest is open to anyone 18 years or older, and submissions must be received by September 18, 2009.

THIRST Q&A Session & Photos

We had a good crowd for last night’s screening of THIRST, and many of them stayed for the Q&A session afterward, which ended up being about 40 minutes long. After that, the fans were able to line up to get THIRST posters signed by director Park Chan-wook. Here’s a recording of the Q&A session. We also posted some photos from the event on our Flickr page, so take a look at them there.

Screening of PARK Chan-wook’s new film THIRST: July 26

As a benefit for HIFF Ohana members*, we are hosting a special sneak preview of Korean director PARK Chan-wook’s new vampire film THIRST at the Dole Cannery Theaters on Sunday, July 26th at 6:30pm. This film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. PARK will be in attendance and will have an extended Q&A session after the film. We will also be presenting him with this year’s Vision in Film Award.
