Preview of Spring Showcase films

The Spring Showcase is coming up in less than a month (April 4-10), so here’s a preview of several films playing at the festival. We’ll be announcing the full program and schedule next week.

Cinema Hawaii Film Series at Hawaii Theatre

HIFF has added 3 last minute films to the festival program and is screening them every Monday in October at the Hawaii Theatre Center as part of their new CINEMA HAWAII Film Series. The Hawaii Theatre has recently upgraded to a state-of-the-art cinema digital projection system with 3D capability and 7.1 Dolby Digital sound.

Kicking off on Monday, October 7 (four days before the start of the Festival) is a special advance screening of the current Korean box-office smash hit, THE FACE READER.

Late Additions to HIFF 33 Film Program

We’ve been working hard to get our printed program guides ready (available now at the HIFF office, will be distributed ASAP), and in the meantime we added seven more films to the program for this year’s festival. The biggest addition is definitely THE WIND RISES (風立ちぬ, Kaze Tachinu), a new film from animation master Hayao Miyazaki, who recently announced his retirement.
