2007 Festival Trailer

“Change is good”. A common phrase which packs a punch. Changes have been made for HIFF’s 27th annual edition. Last year’s HIFF attracted such large audiences that several screenings not only sold out, but were over sold because of our membership system had flaws. Reacting to audience concerns, particularly those from our HIFF Ohana members, we dramatically redesigned our admissions procedures, especially our pass system. We divided our audience into three groups: those who wanted to get in first and fastest; those who wanted to save money, but see many films; and those who wanted to just see a few films but were guaranteed to have a seat in the theater. Now, if you want to get in fast, buy a “fast pass.” If you want to save money, buy a ticket package – or several. If you want to catch a film here and there, buy a general admission ticket.

I encourage you to explore aspects of the Festival with which you may not be familiar. Our seminars are fascinating, informative, and first-rate. Our screenings of student films from the Shanghai University School of Film and Television and the University of Hawaii Academy for Creative Media are unique. Our special events are your chance to relax and party a bit with others at HIFF.
