2003 Festival Trailer

Aloha, Welcome as LOUIS VUITTON HAWAII presents the Hawaii International Film Festival throughout the Aloha State. LOUIS VUITTON HAWAII joined with us two years ago in an extraordinary show of support for the cultural arts in the Islands. Their support, the LOUIS VUITTON GOLF CUP HAWAII CHARITY TOURNAMENT, is generous, unique, and significant. We at the film festival are profoundly grateful and deeply moved by this invaluable support.

Every year we try to improve the format and design of our program guide, making adjustments according to your feedback as the “users” of this publication. We have taken particular care in this year’s program, making every effort to produce a user friendly guide that will make selecting films faster and easier for you. As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions as you put the program to use this year.

It’s been a great year for filmmaking, and our slate of films for our 23rd year reflects our mission of promoting cultural understanding through this rich and versatile medium. Our focus is on international, especially Asian and Pacific Rim and North American, films which highlight different people and cultures, and the ones we’ve chosen this year continue to entertain and educate in ways that mainstream films often do not. It is our goal to introduce films that incite and inspire our community, that encourage awareness, discussion, and innovative thought. As the world and her cultures evolve, HIFF is reinvented with every new season. As we present ourselves again to our ohana, we count our blessings and thank you all.
